The Nebo Loop is a scenic byway that goes from Nephi, around Mt Nebo, north to Payson. There are a ton of overlooks, little hikes, and so on. And cows.

Over the past decade or so I’ve visited Lava more than half a dozen times, and through these trips, these six have been my absolute favorite, the must do’s of Lava Hot Springs.

Just a little south of Big and Little Cottonwood canyons, Ferguson Canyon is a great hike in the Wasatch Mountains that is family and dog friendly.

The national park’s website listed the trail to Delicate Arch as “strenuous.” I laughed. And then I went on the actual hike.

First, I just want to say that this hike is actually nearly 2 1/2 miles to the springs. It also gains in elevation, so a lot of that is uphill. If you are as physically fit as me, then you will want to die by the time you reach the top – or your endorphins will kick in, and you’ll feel awesome.

Snow Canyon often gets overlooked because it’s only a 45 minute drive from Zions, but there are plenty of beautiful and fun hikes to do around here as well.

If you are looking for a walk of solitude, the trail to Elephant Rock is not for you. Everybody and their dog can be found on this path, and that’s the beauty of it.
